About Garrett

Rancho Cordova has been home to Garrett Gatewood and his family for over 14 years. As a business owner, Garrett has devoted his career to building a successful business empire that spans across the country.  His secondary passion is helping young people and communities to thrive.

To this day, he coaches youth sports and is very active in the community. Driven by his passion to help every young person succeed and see Rancho Cordova reach its full potential, Garrett was appointed by the Rancho Cordova City council 3-1 after the unfortunate and untimely death of long time council member Dan Skoglund.  He is the first African American to be a council member in the city of Rancho Cordova

Garrett’s leadership and commitment to serving his community pushes him to work to ensure Rancho Cordova is a world class city.

Garretts current appointments include: City Council / Elk Grove Unified School District 2×2, City Council / City of Sacramento 2×2,

Moreover, he was instrumental in helping found the Invictus Foundation, a non-profit organization aimed at helping students succeed academically by using sports.  He also serves on the BARO, an organic certifying organization and Sonder Solutions, an organization that helps hard to place individuals return to the workforce. In addition, served on the board of the Rancho Cordova Chamber of Commerce.

Garrett is a proud graduate of California University, Chico. Where he earned a degree in Computer Science.

He has been married for over 15 years to his wife Cheryll and has two boys, Owen and Jacob.

Garrett is also a proud member of River City Christian Church located in Rancho Cordova
